Tim and Hunter Grounds have forgotten more about hunting Canada geese than most hunters will ever know. They've been doing it for years, and they've mastered the calling and decoying necessary to consistently shoot Canada geese in an area of extremely high hunting pressure. Their success for calling Canadas is well known---they use short-reed goose calls that they developed themselves that sound exactly like Canada geese and together they've won just about every goose-calling contest title in existence.

The Grounds' success for decoying geese is much less known---they use black and white decoys for maximum contrast on any background that draws geese from miles away! Before these fully flocked windsocks were developed, they used black paint to darken the brown portions on production full body Canada decoys---Big Foot, Final Approach, Avery Greenhead Gear, etc. They do this because they've tried it and it works, and black-and-white Canada goose decoys consistently have more drawing power than more detailed decoys because they stand out more at a distance on all backgrounds. Scott Threinen, who has blown a Grounds Real Thang goose call for years and used it to win the last three successive World Live Goose Calling Championships, also strongly recommends black-and-white decoys in his instructional DVD, the Goose Society.

Now Grounds has worked with Sillosocks to create the first fully flocked windsock decoy, which is black and white for maximum drawing power. These decoys are rigid like other Sillosock decoys to retain their shape even on windless days. All the black on these decoys, even on the heads, is flocked to absorb light, reduce glare, and retard frost formation. The white cheek patches and V-tail portions are UV reflective. These are very, very large decoys---the bags on these decoys are approximately 22" long and the overall length is about 36". Also included are 12 thin 30-inch black metal stakes to allow the decoys to move realistically in the wind, along with instructions.
